Abby and Gaby started this event back in 2010! That's 4 years ago already! This is one of Abby's favorite days to celebrate because of the meaning of what Day of the Dead is, and what can be better than a super cute cartoon to illustrate what Day of the Dead is!

It's all about celebrating LIFE!
El Dia de los Muertos se trata de celebrar la VIDA!!

The most widely known tradition following this holiday is the making of the altar to welcome the spirits that come to visit. I have always wanted to make one, but had not had the chance to really do it. So this year I decided to give it go and here is what my altar looks like

I had a lot of fun gathering the different elements that need to be part of the altar. The centerpiece of my altar is dedicated to my beloved angel my sister Jeni. I also added each of my grandparents on the side of her and my great-grandparents on the bottom. Recently my uncles Adolfo and Pablo passed away so they joined in on the celebration.

There is mexican bread, sugar skulls, candles, tequila, incense and lots of flowers.

The different elements are supposed to represent things that the dearly departed enjoyed and also have things to represent the four elements: Water, Fire, Wind and Earth.

The papel picado which is one of my favorite elements represents the wind, and I had a lot of fun making these and using Dilo en Español stamps to decorate them with.

As a thank you for stopping by I am giving away the svg file to make your own papel picado
